Raffigurante Krishna che suona il flauto per le mandriane. Il ricamo è tanto fitto da sembrare dipinto e i colori sono brillanti, soprattutto il verde delle foglie e il blu dello sfondo. Il bordo è decorato con una fascia sottile contenente le mucche, altro elemento tipico di questa tradizionale iconografia. Foderato sul retro e corredato di lacci per la sospensione.

Embroidered Picchwai with Krishna and gopies
India, 20th century
Woven fabric with fine embroidery depicting Krishna playing the flute for the cowherds. The embroidery is so dense that it looks to be painted and the colours are bright, especially the green of the leaves and the blue of the background. The border is decorated with a thiner band containing cows, another typical element of this traditional iconography. Lined at the back and complete with loops to be hung.
