Miniatura pigmenti naturali e oro su carta raffigurante un sacerdote (brahmino) che rende omaggio all’effigie infantile di Krishna nella sua forma Shrinathji, caratterizzata dall’opulenza delle vesti e dei gioielli indossati dalla divinità. L’iconografia Shrinathji è insita nella tradizione Pushtimarg (la ‘via della grazia’), fondata nel XV secolo dal santo Vallabhacharya e prevede la rappresentazione di BalaKrishna nell’atto di sollevare il Monte Govardhan con un solo braccio. La murti (immagine) più venerata si trova nel tempio di Nathdwara in Rajasthan.

Natural pigment and gold on paper depicting a priest (Brahmin) paying homage to the infant effigy of Krishna in his Shrinathji form, characterized by the opulence of the robes and jewellery worn by the deity. The Shrinathji iconography is inherent in the Pushtimarg tradition (the ‘way of grace’), founded in the 15th century by the saint Vallabhacharya, and involves the depiction of BalaKrishna in the act of lifting Mount Govardhan with one arm. The most venerated murti (image) is found in the Nathdwara temple in Rajasthan.
